Can I connect a list to a channel?

Hi, 

I'm trying to connect specific lists to channels on slack. I have separate lists for each of my departments and only want notifications for that department to be sent to their channel, not the whole board. How do I do this?

This isn't native behaviour for the App.

Is there a reason each department can't have it's own board? Just asking the initial, simple question :)
