I would like to be able to save Office 365/Outlook web emails and retain HTML or rich text formatting. When I use the Trello Add-In for Office 365 Mail or when I try to forward the email to my email-to-Trello address, in either case all formatting is stipped and I get plain text only. Is there a way to improve upon this?
If you forward the email to trello, but select the option to forward as an attachement, your card will contain an .msg file that will conserve the formatting. This means that the content of the email may not be indexed, as Trello might not enter .msg attachments to scrape content.
You may look into integrations via Zapier to attach the email as a PDF, which should get indexed, from what I recall.
Otherwise, Trello will strip formatting if you use the basic "email to card" feature.
Thanks - that is clever and helpfull - though with Office 365 it is somewhat awkward to forward an email as an attachment and not efficient to do regularly.

But I found a workaround - using Zapier, one of the fields when forwarding the email is the URL for the original email. So I configure Zapier for that URL as the link. Now in Trello I can open the original email with the link back to Office 365.

Hi Richard,
Could you explain how it is you did this? I'm trying to do something similar. Would like any email that comes into my inbox to show up attached to a new card

When setting up the Zap, in the Trello/Create Card step choose "Message URL" under URL Attachments.
