Custom Field - How to stop it from being auto added to new cards

I created a custom field called Completed Date as a date field.

now whenever I add a new card to the board the custom field is automatically added to the new card.

I don't want the custom field to be on the card until the card is marked as complete, as I have set up an automation to add the field then and date then.

You might want to take a look at Amazing Fields. Depending upon what you want to do with fields it may be able to meet your needs and it allows you to choose what fields to show on each card.  You can even choose the fields to show based upon formulas that look at other data on the card.

Hi Allen, I added the Amazing PowerUps to one of my boards and thought that I had found the solution, until I found out that,

A: You need to pay for the upgraded version to be able to export.

B: Trello's inbuilt export does not export the Amazing PowerUps fields.

I liked that I could format the date fields to just dd/mm/yyyy but not being able to export without subscription is a deal breaker.

I can understand that.  Please note though that only the person doing the export needs to be a supporter.  It isn't something where if you have 100 people on a board they all need to be a supporter.  Just the person configuring the fields and doing things like exporting needs it.

I tried to strike a balance to keep it inexpensive but also have a way to cover support and maintenance costs.

The account that I am using here I created because we had a bunch of dashcards that all broke because the person who created them left the organisation. to prevent that happening again I created the account with our group mailbox so they will never break again.

I might look at paying for the subscription myself to test what I want to do, if the manager likes what I have done I can probably make a case for continuing the subscription with a work CC.
