@Gordon Smart as @milynnus mentioned our products BenkoBoard and BenkoDesk allow you to do this.
If you use either then you can email all attachments on a card to any email addess from a Trello card by posting a comment like this:
@to Firstname Lastname user@example.org
@attach all
Hi there, here is the attachment you asked for.
The email will go out via Gmail and be visible in your sent items. BenkoBoard is for your individual email, and BenkoDesk is for shared/team emails.
It also integrates with Google contacts so you don't need to include the email address:
@to Name
@attach all
Hi there please find proposal attached
or you can use it without the name:
@to user@example.org
@attach all
Please find monthly summary attached
If you receive an email you can also have them automatically added to your Trello board, to reply to an email you simply post a comment like this:
@reply
@attach all
Hi thanks for your email, here is the prospectus you asked for
you can send emails without attachments obviously as well.
Because this runs entirely from comments posted, and not via a power up, it works the same from any device and is also easy to automate with Butler or other API tools.
You can see more on our websites:
Thanks looks useful for many although as an organisation we don't use gmail so having communication in another repository isn't ideal.

You can try Contalist. It allows you to preview and attach a file from your local drive or include the attachments from Trello as part of email template. You have choice of smtp, outlook, some ? webmail by individual user under business plan.
Trello email automation does not handle attachments.

You will need some Power Up or add-on to do that. I have tried with Benkoboard and Contalist.

You can do this easily with the Hipporello Service Desk.
1. You define email-to-board address(es) so that you start receiving emails directly to your Trello board.
2. You can respond to emailing contacts from within the respective Trello card.
3. You can also add an attachment while replying to the email.
If you're sharing your Trello board with your team and want to turn your board into a shared inbox to collaborate easily, you can read this blog article.
Hope that helps,
Cigdem
