How to keep Board Activity open?

Angela Allen May 24, 2025

I used to be able to leave the Board Activity panel open. I like seeing the activity on our boards and it makes me aware of updates I'm not "watching."

Now, it closes as soon as I click outside the panel. There's no way to "pin" it to the toolbar, keep it open it as a sidebar, or even just ask that it stays open until manually closed.

Can something be done about this? I'd like to bring back the option to be able to watch Board Activity in real time -- in a way that's most productive for me and others on our team.

Hi @Angela Allen!

I just wanted to let you know that this change is part of the new Trello navigation. While the changes are intended to enhance user experience by providing a more flexible and efficient way to navigate, I certainly understand your perspective.
I encourage you to share any thoughts through the feedback collector. You can find that in the header, it's the bullhorn icon, and those messages go directly to our product and design teams.

Thanks, Carolina! Will do!

Hola @Angela Allen

Hello ACE! Thanks for your reply. I hope Google Translate got the translation correct for me...

Yep, I know how to watch lists and cards. :) I already follow a lot of the lists and cards on our board, and my Notifications panel gets pretty crazy.

The Activity panel scrolls in real time with no unnecessary info, almost like a chat room, and it's much easier for me to follow as I work.

I know it's a quality-of-life thing and not mission-critical, but it sure would be nice to have the option of keeping it open.

I understand.
There's been quite a bit of criticism of the new interface.
Especially since some changes are for the worse for many of us. Let's hope they listen.
In this case, I'm not sure it's not a mistake rather than a conscious change. But I'm almost convinced that with the implementation of the planner + inbox panels and the removal of the left-hand dashboard panel, they don't plan to take up more space with the dashboard activity panel...
Good luck.
