Hi Trello Community,
I'm writing to request an improvement in how drag-and-drop functionality works in Firefox - Ubuntu 25.04 latest version when moving cards between lists.
Currently, when I drag a card in Firefox, the card doesn't visually follow my mouse cursor as it does in Chrome-based browsers. This makes it a bit more challenging to accurately place cards, as I'm essentially dragging a "ghost" of the card.
In Chrome-based browsers, the card sticks to the cursor, providing a much clearer visual cue for placement. This difference in behavior significantly impacts the smoothness and intuitiveness of the drag-and-drop experience in Firefox.
I believe enhancing this visual feedback in Firefox would greatly improve the overall user experience for many Trello users who prefer or are required to use Firefox.
Has anyone else experienced this, or is there a known workaround I might be missing?
Thanks for considering this improvement!
Hi @Daniel Buchmann
Have you tried using a different mouse?
I use Firefox and I don't have this problem.
Greetings
Yes, same problem with another mouse. In chrome browsers based it doesn't happen.

Have you recently installed or do you have any Firefox extensions that could be causing this?
You could also try deleting your cookies...
Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. Even with all extensions disabled and cookies cleared, the problem still persists.

I have dual boot here, on Windows it's working as expected, the issue is just on Ubuntu.
Firefox Version: 139.0.1 (64-bits)

I've got an update regarding the drag-and-drop issue we've been discussing in Trello on Firefox! As many of us have noticed, the card doesn't visually follow the mouse in Firefox like it does in Chrome, which makes precise placement a real pain.
I've stumbled upon a workaround that makes the drag-and-drop experience absolutely perfect, matching how it works in Chrome-based browsers!
If you're using a Linux desktop environment (like GNOME or Cinnamon), give this a shot:
1. Press Alt + F2 to open the "Run Command" dialog.
2. Simply type the letter r.
3. Hit Enter.
This command effectively restarts your graphical shell (e.g., GNOME Shell). It's a handy trick often used to resolve various display glitches without logging you out or closing any of your applications.
For me, it completely fixed the visual feedback for drag-and-drop in Trello on Firefox. Now, when I move a card, it smoothly follows my cursor, making the whole process much more intuitive and accurate.
I'm still eagerly awaiting a definitive solution from the Trello team for this!
Cheers

Hey everyone,
Quick update on the drag-and-drop issue I was having with Trello in Firefox!
I've narrowed down the problem significantly. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that the issue only occurs when I'm running Firefox in an X11 environment (like GNOME on Xorg).
When I switch to Wayland (e.g., "GNOME on Wayland" session), the drag-and-drop functionality in Trello works perfectly, just as expected! The card follows the mouse smoothly without any lag or snapping.
This strongly suggests the problem isn't with Trello itself, nor is it a core Firefox bug unrelated to the display server. Instead, it seems to be an interaction issue specifically between Firefox (running on X11) and the desktop environment's handling of drag-and-drop events.
This should be a significant clue for the Trello (or Firefox/GNOME) developers to investigate further and hopefully provide a fix for users still on X11.
Thanks again for all the suggestions!
