Is there a way to add a comment to an item within a checklist?

So rather than just checking it off as done, are you able to write a comment relating to an item within a checklist, giving more information about that item? For example, perhaps why you have not been able to action it yet?  Or some important information relating to the task/item you've just checked off?

You can edit the checklist item to add more information—however, there isn't a way to add a separate comment to a checklist item.
