In GitHub it's possible to automatically link Issues to commits by a specific string in the commit message (like "resolves #234345", or something like that). Is there an extension/plugin/powerup that would allow me to link trello cards in Git commit messages?
The workflow I'd like:
- I do some work related to a task described in a Trello card.
- I commit the work and put the link to the card (or just the ID) in the message, e.g. "https://trello.com/c/aBOasdZG/321-using-timestamps-from-client-without-invalid-dates"
- The Trello card shows the link to the commit on Github
From what I see the Github "Power-up" is focused on pull-requests, which we don't do because of trunk-based development, and manually on linking things, which we want to get rid of.
Hi Michał,
I'm unfortunately not aware of anything that would enable that from the Github side!
The Power-Up inside Trello does also support commits, but it still works the same way, that it would need you to attach the commit to the card via Trello, so that probably doesn't help much.
We'll be on the lookout for something like this!
Ok, thank you for the info.
