Dear community,

I'm hoping someone can help me with a Trello issue I just encountered.

I spent three hours updating a list.
Once I finished, I decided to move this list to a another board. I clicked on the three dots menu of the list and selected "Move List...".

I then selected the new board and was asked to choose the position for the list. I selected position number five.

To my surprise, the list moved to the very first position on the new board, and only the list title was transferred. All 45 cards that I created within the list are missing.

Why did this happen, and is there anything I can do to recover the missing cards?

Thank you for your help!

Hi @Or Green - welcome to the Community!

This can happen when you move a list that has a lot of cards in it. Has the list now appeared in the new board with all of the cards?

Can you try doing a hard refresh (Cmnd / Ctrl + Shift + R) to see if it fixes the issue?

Hi Alex, Thank you. Unfortunately, the list went through with no cards. I tried Cmd + Shift + R, but nothing happened. :(

Hi @Or Green - did you do the refresh on the board you moved the list to? Can you send through a URL of a card that was in this list?

Hi @Or Green - this isn't a Trello link. Can you please provide the URL of a card that was in the list you moved?

I can't, they're gone. Or am I misunderstanding you?

You can find these card URLs in your browser history. Once you have them, you can click on one yourself to see which board this card is currently in, or send it to me to take a look.

Oh, now I understand what you mean. I'll look for the link and check it out tomorrow. That's interesting, is there actually historical information to be learned from that link? Because I sent it to the old board before I transferred. The old board is empty now. Update: I found the list with most of the cards, or maybe all of them, I'm not sure. Half a consolation. What's interesting is that Trello created two lists for me during the transfer, in two different locations on the new board I transferred to. The first list has no cards, and the second list, which is further down and wasn't immediately visible, does. The list with the cards was created in position 6, which originally was position 5, as I requested during the transfer if Trello hadn't also created another list in position number 1.
