I've been working with a developer for over 6 months on a long overdue project. I was told Trello closed the board due to "technical issues" and that they're "overhauling the site" all of my correspondence and job orders are gone. Is anyone familiar with this issue? I don't see anything in the blog about it. Thank you.

This doesn't sound familiar - we don't close boards due to "technical issues" and we're not "overhauling the site" either (we're constantly improving Trello, and some of the changes may be an "overhaul" per-se, but there is certainly no downtime involved).
I'd suggest you reach out to support via trello.com/contact so we can dig into what's going on for you.
