Can the search tool link to the list a searched card is in?

Marc-Edouard Leon August 15, 2025

Hi!

My trello boards have mannnnnnnny lists. I have the challenge of sometimes finding where the list for a card is. When I search a word, it will find the card I was after and on that card it will name the list the card is in, but if i click on the found searched card, the card will show on the screen and not its list. The name of the list appears on the card but there's no feature to click on the list name to see the entire list. Am I'm missing something? I would like the option to not just see the card, but for the list name on the card to be clickable so that I can be taken to that list's location on the board. For example, some of my boards have 50 lists so it's hard to find the list a card is in. I can copy the name of the list and search it on chrome and that works, but i wish the card itself would have a feature to take me to a list. The card could for example pop up when i click in it, and when i exit the card, the list would be at the center of my browser's view of the board.

Please let me know if this - or something similar - is doable :)

Thanks!

I've exactly the same issue sometimes.

As far as I know you can't link to lists or reference them, and I've also not seen a list name show up in a filter. A clickable list name does not seem possible.

(I think that is because a list is really just a graphical representation of a table, where every card is a row, and the list names and current positions are fields in a column so to speak. Something like that.)

What I sometimes do is create a custom field or use a label because those you can filter on. You could get creative that way, maybe use views, depending on your setup, but it's not a clean solution.

Mostly I also just apply CTRL/CMD+F.

Would be interested to see how others have managed this.
