How can I set date custom fields to automatically display a color code depending on the date status? The goal is to create a custom date field that will display as pink or red (or another color) when overdue in a similar way to how due dates show up pink or red when overdue.
If you don't need all the advanced capabilities of custom fields (butler integration), you could try Amazing Fields. (https://trello.com/power-ups/60e068efb294647187bbe4f5) It allows customizing the display of dates based upon various rules.
Hi @[deleted] ,
You can't change the color of a custom field, but you can change the color of the card based on a date field.
You can check details here (look for configuring card colors)- https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/customize-cards/
You can also check if there is an app in the Markeplace that could address your use case: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/

Thanks for the answer, but these instructions appear to be for Jira. Is there a way to change the color of a card based on a custom date field in Trello?

Oops, sorry Jacob, you're right.
It seems that it's not possible to fully customize this with Trello. This post covers a similar question:

And this article describes the color changes and alerts in Trello based on due dates:

(Now you can also set due dates reminder at these intervals, if it helps:
