New to Trello and can see great potential!  For this board, I am NOT wanting collaboration but to create a set of checklists that I can share with each individual student.  Does Trello have the capacity to do that, or is that accomplished through sharing with an LMS?  Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @Mikki Castor

Trello can indeed be an effective tool for creating and sharing checklists with individual students, even if you're not seeking collaboration on the same board. Here's how you can approach this:

  1. Create a Board for Checklists: You can start by creating a board in Trello dedicated to your checklists. Each list within this board could represent a different topic, class, or group of tasks.

  2. Use Cards for Individual Checklists: Within each list, you can create individual cards. Each card can represent a checklist for a specific student. Trello allows you to add a checklist to each card, where you can list the tasks or items the student needs to complete.

  3. Sharing with Students: As for sharing these checklists with your students, Trello provides a few options:

    • Invite Students to the Board: You can invite each student to the board, giving them access to view their respective card. You can set permissions to ensure they only have viewing rights and cannot edit the board.
    • Share Individual Cards: If you prefer not to invite students to the entire board, you can share a link to individual cards. This way, each student only sees their checklist.
    • Exporting Checklists: Another option is to export the checklist from a card and share it through another medium (like email or a Learning Management System - LMS).
  4. Integration with LMS: Depending on the LMS you're using, there might be direct integration options available with Trello. This would allow you to share Trello cards or boards directly within your LMS environment. You might need to check your LMS documentation or support for specific integration capabilities.

  5. Privacy and Permissions: Since you mentioned not wanting collaboration on the board, be sure to set the board's privacy settings accordingly. You can make the board private and then selectively share access with your students.

  6. Templates and Automation: Trello also offers features like templates for cards and automated actions (through Butler), which can save time if you're creating similar checklists for multiple students.

There isn't a limit to the number of boards, however, you can only have 10 open at a time. Why not have one board with lists for each student or 1 list that has each student as a card?

You'll have to look at adding a free "Powerup" to your workspace to make "checklists"
