The DUE DATES for me are DEADLINES for performing tasks. I want to set a reminder on the sSTART DATE and not on the DUE DATE and there is no such option ...

It's been a while since you've asked this, we've just incorporated start dates so you can now use it your Blue Cat Reports.

We don't have the ability to send notifications on start dates yet. You can read when notifications are sent here: https://help.trello.com/article/793-receiving-trello-notifications

That being said, I've sent through your feedback to the team, so when we do work on notifications, we'll look into this for you!
