How do I stop Trello from creating a "Done" list in a new board?

This particular user is creating a zillion "done" items, so the list quickly becomes too long to be very useful. As a result, we decided to create a Done board, move done items there and then distribute them into various categorical lists so we can assess which categories are causing the most problems historically.

Archiving and then deleting a Done list seems to result in a new, empty Done list being created. Can this behavior be stopped?

It sounds like you might be dealing with a card repeater that's set up to create new copies of the card on a schedule.
