How to Create Trello Report (built-in) listing all cards activities

Amit Weinreb January 30, 2024

Hi,

What is the best way to create a Trello report listing all card activities for each card using the pattern format?

Is it possible?

This is what I have at the moment:

"- [{cardname}]({cardlink}): {carddescription}"

Apparently I haven't searched the forums quite well. There is a very old similar question.

My solution is based on "the creative solution" suggest in that link.

  • Each time a card is created, an "Update Card" is created in another list with an empty "Updates" checklist.
  • Each time a comment is posted, The relevant "Update Card" is found and a new item in the "Updates" checklist is created.
  • When a card is considered complete, it is moved to a "Completion" list where the "Updates" checklist is copied there.
  • Generating a report with the following pattern on the Completion list:
    - ####[{cardname}]({cardlink}) - Created on {cardcreationdate}\n{carddescription}\n{cardcheckliststate}

Although this is a very complicated workaround, it appears to be the only one that is suitable for use with the built-in automation system.

I do hope that in the future the {commenttext} will be available for report generation.

Hi @Amit Weinreb, welcome to the community! What activities are you wanting to see? In your example, it will just pull the card description.

Thank you for the welcome!

I want to see all the comments and activities in the card when generating a report.

I have posted a workaround, as I found no direct approach is available (at least that I am aware).
