I work with a company that has been using your service for the last 3 years. When we add comments to cards there is now an editor bar along the top. This reformats the way the comments are added and adds extra line space between them. Could you please tell me how to turn off the character editor in the comments?
Hi, Nicholas! Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
The change you are seeing comes from a new editing toolbar inside of Trello, to allow for more intuitive formatting options for card and board descriptions. The idea is to provide more control over how your content looks and allows you to preview it before saving. If this isn't desirable for you, the editor can be disabled by going over https://trello.com/my/labs and toggling on ‘WYSIWYG Editing.'
I also want to provide a quick tip for how to prevent this from happening extra line from happening.
Simply hold down the shift key while pressing enter or return, and your text will single space instead. This works in most modern text editors and should help you achieve the formatting you desire.
I used Enter/Return because Windows keyboards use Enter and Mac Keyboards use Return, so just consider whichever one is applicable to you.
Double spacing is a regular formatting rule for editors, this means there are other workarounds available to avoid paragraph breaks, however, holding shift is usually regarded as the most practical way to avoid this big space between lines of text.
Let me know if this makes sense or if you run into any issues replicating it!
