I have found that there is a limit of 16384 characters for the "Description" of the card, but i want to know if there is also a text limit if I add a type 'Text' Custom Field and put pretty long notes int it.

Does anyone know the text limit for the "Comments" also?

@Alexandros Galatas

I think it's safe to say the limit is  at least the same as description. I put >14000 characters in to a custom text field no problem.

I'm very curious to know why you want to though?

Thanks! It's a board with local points of interest. Each POI is assigned to one card and I was thinking to use a custom field for georeference in WKT format, as the POI can be a point or a footpath/castle ruins (line geometry) or a general region (polygon geometry), and the latter two consume a lot of characters. Trello only supports points natively with map layout, but I think the characters you reached are good enough to go with the WKT alternative!

Cheers,

Alex

Hello @Alexandros Galatas

Yes, there is a character limit for custom text fields, and you can find that limit yourself by:

  1. Filling a custom text field with characters until it won't hold any more
  2. Copy and paste all that text into a word processor, such as Word
  3. Do a character count to find out how many characters are there.

Voila!
