I recently replaced a former employee. The email she used to register on Trello is the same email I inherited. Each time I'm invited to a project board, the former employee's name still comes up.
My boss has tried deactivating the old account, but that has been unsuccessful. We have had no luck finding technical support to entirely delete the former employee's account, which might then allow me to register using the same email address the former employee once used.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Hi Erin, welcome to the community! :)
Couple of options available if you want to start fresh with that same email address.
Option 1 - is you could delete the account fully: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/deleting-your-trello-account/. One thing to note here is that this does delete all data in your Atlassian account (not just Trello), so just keep that in mind in case you've used other Atlassian products with that account. Also, it can take 14 days for the account to fully delete - which is a grace period to recover in case you realise you need to log back in.
Option 2 - would be to change the email address on the account via the Atlassian account settings - https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/email. For example, you could change it to something like myemail+old@email.com (using this as an example to avoid revealing your email). What this would do is instantly free up the existing email address. You could then go ahead and create a new Trello account under that email via: https://trello.com/signup.
Once done, you'd just want to make sure someone invites the new account to the Workspace.
Option 2 is great if you'd rather not wait 14 days! :)
Hope this helps! :) Let me know how things go. If you need to share any sensitive account related information, please don't do it here. Thank you for this information. It confirms that I'm on the right path since I have already requested Atlassian to delete the account completely. It has been a few days and I keep testing the system so I can recreate a new account.
I'll try Option 2 if all else fails.
Thanks again!

No problems Erin! :) Once the 14 days have passed, the account should be totally removed and you'll be able to use that email again to start afresh!
