Newbie mistake hoping can be undone - deleted custom fields

I deleted custom fields in one list not understanding that it would delete it from ALL my list of 88 cards of information gathered. UGH. Is there a way to get that information back or refresh the board back to previous day? Thank you for your help in advance

Hi @Ruth Beranek

Unless you have xml backup, Its not possible to restore the deleted custom field along with configuration as it was earlier.

from what I know I do not have that backup - going forward do you know how I do get that as a backup so this extreme consequence isn't as devastating?
