Open Trello links in Windows desktop app

I would like to open links from third party apps like Slack in the Trello desktop app instead of the default browser.

I have been searching and the option I found with the redirector in Chrome/Firefox did not work. Seems the redirect to trello:// is not working as Windows does not know where to send it to. 

Currently I am using version 2.12.5 from the store.

I made a Firefox plugin which solves the problem. You find it in the Add on library "Trello Link opener"
