I have the "Daily Task Management" template that states "Where does Butler come on? Each day at 01:00 Butler will rename list Done Today to a new list with yesterday's date - so you can keep track of what you did when. A new Done Today list will be created. (Note: You'll need to set up these Butler rules on your new board.)"  I'm VERY new to Trello and I can't figure out how to get the list to automatically rename to the day before.  I can find where I set up at a specific time each day I can rename, but it just has a space for the new name.... Can anyone held?  Thank you!!

Hi!

You can use Butler variables to set the new list name: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/butler-variables/

For your use-case there's also date arithmetic and formatting options available: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/arithmetic-and-formatting-in-date-variables/

To name the list, for example "Done - Aug 2" (when it's currently Aug 3) you'd enter:

Done - {date-1d~MMM D}

 Breaking that down:

  • "Done -" is just plain text, no magic here
  • "{" tells Butler a variable is coming
  • "date" tells Butler to use the date/time of right now
  • "-1d" tells Butler to subtract one day
  • "~" tells Butler that we want to format the date
  • "MMM D" is the formatting we want. See https://momentjs.com/docs/#/displaying/ for details about what this means and what other options are available
  • "}" tells Butler it's the end of the variable

Hope this helps!

This is great, thank you!!  How about copying cards from one list to another on a daily basis?

HI!

I use butler until several years and I miss a very useful feature that would save a lot of time for repetitive automatation butler users.

At office we work with boards templates for new projects with several cards groups of rules for this templates and order by diferent command groups, for ex. to do rules list, doing rules list or done rules list.

Bassicaly the issue looks for save 15-20 min time on every repetitive initial cards groups automations when you create a new board (project).

Think in 1 new proyect daily for a creative office with 10-15 group rules to enable, it means two thouthend hour a month invest in a repetitive automatation cards button.

If you create a family button command grups, thats gives us the posibility to anable all the cards groups rules created for a specific template board and order by family in just only one click button, instead of 15-20 min for each new boar required.

Awaiting your consideration in this matter.

Best Regards.
Gonzalo
