Can Butler automatically create and then also sync two cards?

Hi there!

I have two different boards that need to work together: one with my freelancer on which he sees everything he has to do and updates me about the work being done, and one for myself personally where I gather my to do's. 

In the freelancer board, we have a list in which he can ask me questions. Since I don't want to check his board every hour but just work in my own board, I'd really like it to automatically copy the new card in that list (so his latest question) to my own personal to do board. Is that possible with Butler, or should I use Zapier for this? 

Also, I'd like to mirror the cards in both boards, if possible automatically. The workflow would then be:

1. He creates a new card in the list for questions.
2. That card is automatically copied to my personal board.
3. The two cards are (automatically) mirrored so we can both work in our own boards, but on the same card.

I have already looked at Unito but the costs would become pretty high very fast. So does anyone know the best way to do this or to achieve even the most of this workflow?

Hi @Shelley Barendregt ! Butler is able to copy and link cards for the moment, so this means the card is copied and attached to the card. I also know that Trello is working on being able to mirror cards, but I believe this would only be one-way syncing (so updates on your board may not sync back).

Which Unito product were you looking at? Unito has two power-ups: Mirror, and Board Sync. Mirror is based on the number of cards you need to mirror, so if you have lots of cards, this might not be the most economical way to go. The alternative is Board Sync which is more around the number of boards you need to connect, plus the number of users collaborating across those boards.

Hi @Hannah Humbert - Simpla Workflows , thanks for your answer! If I would have Butler copy and link the cards, could I then place a comment in my board and that same comment will appear in his board in the linked card?

I was looking at the Mirror feature from Unito, because I don't want to sync the entire board, but just the cards in that particular list. They might become a lot quite fast so that indeed doesn't seem like the most economical way.

@Shelley Barendregt no, Butler wouldn't sync comments, the cards would work completely independently from one another. It sounds like using Unito would be your best bet. With Board Sync, you connect boards together and you do have the choice to sync all cards from board A and board B, but you can also create rules to only sync a subset. In your case, you would have a rule on the Freelancer side to say "only sync cards in the "questions" list". On your personal board side, you wouldn't want to sync all your personal cards to the Freelancer board, so you could add a rule like "only sync cards with the "freelancer" label", or something along those lines.
