HI,
I want to create a board to keep track of vehicle rentals. I like to set the start and end date, have dependable actions automatically set for certain actions.
Example:
Setup a vehicle rental from start date A to end date B
Have Trello automate date setting for dependable actions:
Notification to send email 3 weeks before start date A
Notification to send email 2 days before date A
Notification to contact 3 days after start date A
Notification to send email 3 days before end date B
Notification to send email 3 weeks after end date B
The rental time varies, so not able to set fixed triggers if you kow what I mean...
Hi there! There are the standard due date reminders that will send you an email, but it only does it up to 2 days before the due date.
You can create checklist items within a card and have the dates of these items correspond to the start and end dates, but Trello doesn't offer checklist date reminders.
Maybe creating "sub cards" cards could be the way to go? So there would be a sub card that would represent the rental start date, and another for the rental end date. The date on the start card would correspond with the rental start date, and the date on the end card would be the rental end date. You can use butler to automate this "dependency" process.
From there, you can create custom due date reminders to be triggered for these sub-cards based on the due date as milynnus mentioned.
Happy to provide more details if you're interested in exploring the above solution!
++ on sub cards! I generally find if you really want to do things with checklist items, it's better to just make them their own cards.

I have similar project with a RV rental company. Their requirement is 1 just email with introduction video links depending rental unit. In your case, using a power up like Contalist to handle the many emails might be a better approach.
If you want to explore further, my profile has my contact details.

HI,
Thanks for your reply. Different companies have different requirements...
My goal is to have an all in one place, using different apps etc at the moment. Not replacing an app for an app.
Is Trello capable of doing what I am looking for?
Cheers, Nick

Adding a power up to a board is Trello’s approach to enhance the capability of your board. You can always do it with Due Date commands and Trello standard email with Trello Automation using the Trello variables …etc.
