Hi, I need advice on how create a searchable system to organize notes and research on Trello.
I would like this system to have categories and sub-categories of topics that I can go to to drop in notes and research and excepts from interviews that fit each category. These categories would be for a variety of subjects.
What I do not understand is how I could insert research/information/interview excerpts into each card (category) and make sure it's searchable so I can go and find something when I need it. Most of the information will be from MS Word documents. And it's important to be able to search with keywords.
Is this possible on Trello?
Thanks so much
welcome to this wonderful community
My first idea would be to get interviews organized in lists as main categories and use the labels as sub categories.
This would mean you get a board with let's say 7 main categories and each interview (which will get one card) will get several sub-categories like this
(just an example)
Now using the awesome search of Trello you can search by writing
label: subtopic 1
and you will get subtopic 1 cards back!
Hope this could answer your question - feel free to ask for more help!

Hi Fabienne,
Thanks so much for your help. I still have the following questions:
1) How do you put text, from a MS Word document, for example, into a card? Not the whole MS Word file, but text that I cut and past from a file. This is the goal for me to create cards for every subject and sub category in my board. I need to be able to put text I have from interview transcripts, etc., into that card.
For example, if I create a card for "Sunsets", I will want to put all the references describing a sunset from interviews and other research into that card. So I need to be make multiple entries with text. Can I do this with Trello?
2) Can I search for text inside ALL cards with keywords? For example, when I go to my board, can I search for "red sunsets" and any reference to red sunsets in ANY card will come up?
Can you give me any guidance on these questions?
Thanks,
Mike

sorry for keeping you waiting.
1. Of course you can make multiple entries into one card. You should try out formatting and also costum fields could be usable for a nice and easy overview.
You can work with short summaries of the texts on the cards and upload the docs in the cards. No problem!
2. Not sure about this - as we discussed earlier about labeling aso. You may have a look on the search functions and about filter which could give super awesome results back like this
