Moving a card when the due date is changed to Today

Leonard Hannasch September 9, 2021

Our new Trello cards automatically receive a due date when created. The date is three days out from when the card was created.  Is there a way to automatically move a card if the due date gets changed to todays date?  We have an Urgent column, so the idea is that the card automatically move to the Urgent column when the due date gets "changed" to today's date.  I do not want other cards that come due today but only cards where the date is physically changed by someone.

Would a rule like this be what you need?

when a due date less than 1 days from now is set on a card by anyone, move the card to the top of list "Urgent"

Yes, that is what i am thinking of.  How would I set that rule?

Here's a list of the steps I took to create this rule:

  • Click Automation in the top right of your board
  • Select "Rules"
  • Click "Create Rule"
  • Click "Add Trigger"
  • Click on "Dates"
  • Then click on the calendar icon to add the "less than 1 days from now" part and change "by me" to "by anyone" (screenshot: https://share.getcloudapp.com/Qwu5jXEk)
  • Click the + icon to add that trigger
  • Add the list name "Urgent" to the action (screenshot: https://share.getcloudapp.com/bLuqOyX4)
  • Click the + icon to add that action
  • Save the rule
