Restriction of possibilities for guests

Until recently, visitors on my board could not mess with anything. Now they can add powerups, automate and even change the content of tasks.

How to make guests only guests and not be able to change anything? So that they can only read the content?

Hi Joanna,

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the Community!

A normal board member or guest (users that are not a member of your Workspace but have been invited to a Workspace board) can edit or add to the board without restrictions, while an observer is a member with read-only access. It sounds like you may have previously added them as an observer.

You can read more about this permission here: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/adding-observers-to-boards/

Give that a look and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any follow up questions.

Great! But is there a way to restrict what a guest can do on a card in more detail? - Some kind of restriction between "read only" and manipulate everything?

I would like to invite my clients as guests and want to allow them to fill out checklists and choose from dropdown-menues, but I don't want them to add automations or other indivudual stuff. How can I do this?

Thanks for your help, Christoph

Hi @Christoph Blumenthal! This granular level of permissions isn't something Trello offers right now, and the closest you'll have is the "Observer" Guests, as suggested by Suzie. Furthermore, there are third-party Power-Ups that allow users to share specific cards on their boards, allowing them to access only a specific card and ensuring that they won't have access to anything else on the board.

You can check some of the third-party Power-Ups we have available here: https://trello.com/power-ups/search?q=share.

Last, I'll add you as +1 to our existing feature request to pass your interest in having a granular level of control about what users should and shouldn't have access to your board. Thanks again for your feedback, Christoph.
