Setting multiple due dates ahead of time for complex workflow

Ost September 7, 2023

I currently have a workflow set up where when checklist is complete on a card, it's drug to the right, and the card auto-populates with a new checklist for the next stage of the process. I would like due date to be specific to time goals in the workflow, example would be 2 months from the time the order is due.

If i just tell it 2 months from card's due date then if it's late in one list, it will forever be late as it goes down the kanban, since it's set "two months from due date". So, i need a sort of master due date - perhaps in a custom field for the automations to work from. But I can't sort a good way to word that automation.

Any thoughts on how have automations do this?

Hi @Ost - Thanks for reaching out in the Community! It sounds like you're on the right track with your solution. We would recommend using a custom field to store the "oder's due date", then you can set your card's due date relative to the date in your custom field.

For example if I had a custom field called 'order_due', I would set up my rule to look similar to this:

This way my due date would be relative to a fixed date that's stored in a custom field and won't be affected if the card's due date is moved.

Let us know how you go.

Thank you Lam! I wound up doing exactly this. :)
