The new trello card layout is terrible. work cannot be seen clearly - tables squashed - images just horrible, text cannot be read quickly. This is a horrid UX/UI idea. Please make the working area larger NOT smaller. Preferably larger than what it was before.

I'm already using a google extension to make cards bigger and if I wanted a Jira look and feel (and bloat) I'd just use Jira. At least make it toggle-able for new and "classic" views.

Exactly! The card layout with left/right and not being able to make the right side (the important one!) bigger is really not useful, at all. Bad UX. The left side is not important in most cases. The right side holds a lot of comments, images, replies and now is horribly  squeezed. It's a bad experience - even more so - in complex projects with a lot of "talk" about tasks.

And yes, if I want to have Jira, I use Jira. But for 75% of our (agency customer) projects it's just too complex/bloated. Trello is perfect (was). It's agile but also understandable for "normal" customers as a support/task/2do board without lengthy onboarding and a lot of help for us to keep everything task-based and compact. We are looking into Taiga now (as free alternative, that might be "not enough") and other competitors like awork.

I get that things have to be updated and changed over time. But why you are making something great in its obvious beloved functions not-so-great anymore (especially by changing the obvious important pieces like the comments view of a card to something less important visually - when it is the most important thing in a real world scenario?!)
I mean, you can talk a lot baout how this is "more agile". But this is an opinion and not a scientific proof. And your opinion is wrong. Where is the actual improvement here? Just words. (and then not even to implement this tiny small little thing to be able to change the left/right side wide, really? in 2025?)

There are little things that are so important, that you destroy the whole thing, if you change them so fundamentally.

Disappointed.
