I am trying to upgrade to trello premium and when I am looking at the cost it keeps saying i have 4 annual licenses and I don't know why I would need 4 licenses.

I'm having the same issue and I don't fully understand Nathan's response.  I checked and on my workspace, I'm the only admin/member and everyone else is an observer.  Any other advice?

Hey @Antonio Cousin

Welcome to Community!

Sorry for any confusion here! Observers are billed for in the same way as board members on our Premium and Standard plans.

This does means if someone's an Observer on more than one board in your Workspace when you upgrade you'd be charged for their account.

If you do have any accounts you don't want to pay for though, as long as they're not a member or admin of the Workspace itself and they're only a member, admin, or observer on one board in your Workspace, you won't be charged for them.

Hope this helps! 🙂

Hey @Andrew!

Our Premium and Standard plans are workspace-specific which means you upgrade an individual workspace and all the boards in it rather than an account as whole and you'll have to pay for a license for everyone who's either:

  • A member of your upgraded workspace
  • Or is a member of more than one board in your upgraded workspace without being a member of the workspace itself (this is known as a Multi-Board Guest)

This'll be why you're seeing that you need to have 4 licenses for our Premium plan, if you're not wanting to pay for all these accounts, you can have an account be a member of 1 board in your workspace and as long as they're not a member of the workspace itself you won't be charged for them so you could remove anyone you don't want to pay for from the workspace and then add then as a member of just one board in the workspace.
