Using Ids in automation (ListId)

Glenn Williams July 22, 2025

I use the API to change the list name every 15 minutes to update the hours needed to complete all the tasks (cards) in the list.  I also want to create an automation to do something with this list.  It looks like the documentation supports using IDs in automation tasks rather than List Name, but I can't seem to make it work.

Is this supported or am I reading something into the documentation that isn't supported?

I came up with another solution. My format for the list name is "DesignerName 48 of 100hrs".  Meaning clocked 48 of the 100 hours estimated for the jobs in the list.

You can use wildcards in automation so you can reference the list in the automation using "DesignerName{*}".

Anyone need any API work?

@Glenn Williams

Without doing the actual coding this should be doable. Yes, you might have to find the id using the listname probably via some text before the hours.

Have you considered creating a card, gather all the cards from the list and set the due date so that this gets triggered, add some comment to alert board members using @@board and of you can archive the trigger card. Just a suggestion.
