Hello fellow Trello-ists!
I have recently started looking thru the community for answers. Currently my team has been experiencing a shift in the Description layout on cards from Markdown to an easier looking Editor. However some are using it and some are not. I found the WYSIWYG switch to have them all enable it - (it is tough since we all started using markdown and actually got the hang of it! Change, am i right?) So they have been saying that links typed in the description are changing or disappearing depending on who is opening up the description to add to it.
One thing is that the people still using markdown are seeing links differently; they now include quotes at the end ( " " ) and have a double header hashtag ( ## ) - this throws them off because they copy/paste the link to add to other applications and then the link "doesn't work" if you don't remove the extra formatting. I hope i am explaining this right.
Anyway - is it possible that if we were all to turn on WYSIWTG then we wouldn't have these issues? Or will it be standard soon enough? or should we all turn it off?
Hi there!
Thanks so much for giving the new Editor a try. This will soon be the default experience for everyone, but if your team is open to moving over sooner, I do think that would help with the inconsistencies that you're seeing.
In the meantime, the extra "" formatting you're seeing is related to the new ways that links can be displayed in the card description. When you hover over a link in the new Editor, you now have the option to display the link either as a URL, an inline link, or a card. Because those options aren't a Markdown feature, the information in the "" allows whichever option you selection to display correctly for all users. If you copy these links from the new Editor, it should just copy the URL and not the Markdown, which may make it easier to paste into other applications.
As for the the ## in the links, would you mind sharing a screenshot of what this looks like to someone using the Editor and someone using Markdown? And would you be able to provide any additional information about the example of links disappearing?
Thanks!
Hi Thanks for your response! We have mostly figured it out for now.
Here is how the header looks in Editor by someone who has enabled WYSIWYG:
and below is the markdown version for the same description without WYSIWYG.
I haven't been hearing of many more problems with this, and have alerted the team to all enable WYSIWYG to avoid any confusion.
As for links disappearing, it seems to happen when bringing cards from a private board to the premium team workspace boards. The link would disappear once on the new board.

I'm glad to hear you're no longer seeing issues with the headers.
Are you still seeing links disappear when you move them to another board? Is the text still there, but no longer linked, or are both the text and the link gone?

If you're still seeing this problem, could you tell me exactly what steps you're taking to move the cards to the workspace boards? Also, is there any automation or Power-Up installed on either of the boards?

Hey Lori! How are you?
I believe this would likely cause the issue you mentioned as some of your team has WYSIWYG enabled and some haven't.
It may also be worth asking anyone who accesses your board to turn it on at https://trello.com/your/labs and prevent any issues like this from happening in the future while we're still in the process of pushing out the WYSIWYG editing to all Trello users.
Also, in case you still notice some texts desappearing on your cards, you can use the steps here to recover: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/recovering-the-description-or-card-title-that-was-changed/
Hope this can help you!
