Workspace or board for each client?

Gregory Beylerian October 6, 2023

Hi,

Newbie here. I run a creative agency that works with different clients. I am looking to use Trello to manage projects with each client. I am wondering which is a better way to set up, a Workspace  or a board for use with each client?

Any clarity on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

GB

@Gregory Beylerian

I don’t there is a single right answer for you. Since Trello is primary meant for collaboration it might be useful to look at you collaborators aka your team. Imagine you have a 100 clients and they have a board each but task cards on your client boards are assigned to your collaborators but the client boards are not standardised, your collaborators will have a hard time adjusting to each board and will be in danger tripping over automation rules. So at the end, regardless of approach, especially with automation and sharing them you need to have thought through the design. It is always a big change for consultants to go into a situation where the client had been using Trello for some time and have not enforce any standards across their boards.

An example would be how to standardise your emails and WhatsApp messages across a 100 boards where the design and current state is consistently implemented, where there small independent teams working on them without clear process maps to handle all kinds of end user requests.

Hi @Gregory Beylerian and welcome to the community!
As @milynnus already mentioned, there's no just one right answer.

One of our Trello Power-Ups, the Service Desk Power-Up is pretty popular among marketing/creative teams with many clients. The power-up gives you a branded client portal with forms and each form fill creates a card on your Trello board. In that case you don't need to create a board for each client but still a lot depends on the way you communicate and collaborate. Check out the website and feel free to request a demo if you need to learn more.

Thanks. Since I am a newbie, I grasp part of your answer. I will continue to research and Learn Trello to gain understanding of how to use Trello for my creative Agency's needs.

If any other user's have experience with Trello to manage clients and their projects, I am all ears.

Thanks,

GB
