why are __ making changing text to bold?

Hi,

We are referring to API fields that contain 2 underscores "__"
However this keeps removing the double underscore and then changing the format to bold.

However according to the help this should only happen when you use double asterix **.

So why is it doing this for underscores and can they be "escaped"?

Thanks for reaching out!

Trello uses basic markdown syntax, and it does look like double underscores would bold words: https://www.markdownguide.org/basic-syntax#bold. I'll add that to our markdown help article 👍

With that said, depending on your API call, you should be able to escape formatting using the backslash "\" character.
