Why is there no way to set team email notifications so you only receive a notification if you are mentioned in an activity post? I'm getting notified every time someone does anything on a card.
Un-watch the board or card: https://help.trello.com/article/799-watching-cards-lists-and-boards
You get notified if you are mentioned whether you're watching the card/board or not.
That's good to know.
It seems Atlassian has made the whole notification process more opaque than it should be--they should have a board notification setting that explicitly says what level of notification (e.g., mentions only, new comments, any changes) you want.
Thanks for the advice.

@Felix am I correct in assuming the next time you comment on a card or get added as a member of a card, you'll automatically become a watcher of that card. So to prevent getting notified of every change in the cards you're watching, you'll need to manually un-watch cards every time that happens. And this would happen regardless of whether you're watching the board or not. It would be great to have a global setting to customize what things you'll be notified of (like what Jira offers and a lot of other PM tools). Is this a feature that Trello is considering for the future?

@Hannah Humbert - Simpla Workflows I think the current behavior is that if you are added (or add yourself) as a member of a card, you'll watch the card. I don't think the same applies for commenting on a card though. (Although I do recall this being discussed, mostly for the opposite reason, where people would be wondering why they are not being notified)
More granular options around Notifications is something that's been discussed, and continues to come up, but right now, as far as I know, there's no active work in that area. Definitely agree with y'all that more control about how and what you get notified for would be nice.
Something that might also help is knowing the shortcut to watch/unwatch cards: hit 's' while hovering over a card, or while on a card-back to toggle the watch status of the card.

Thanks, Felix! That's good to know it's being discussed internally. And good to know that shortcut as well! And yeah, just tested it out and it looks like when you comment on a card, you automatically become a watcher:

Hey @Fred Lee ! Welcome to the community :) for the moment, there's no way to customize what activity you'll be notified of - it's really all or nothing. However, there is a way around it by turning off notifications and using automation to send you a slack message or email when you're @mentioned. Someone asked the same question not long ago so there's more detail in this post here with how to set that up. Hope that helps!
