Hi!
I can't seem to find a way to restore the usual sidebar trello has on the left.
The "Inbox" appears instead.
How can I change that?
Thank you.
I agree, while the search feature is cool having my boards on the left is much quicker and easier then having something pop-up each time.
The UX for navigating quickly between boards has dropped for me massively, all so that we get 150/200px extra horizontally?
Please bring back that option and please test more thoroughly in future when you're removing features that people use...
Couldn't agree more. I hate the two click board jumping now. Used to be so convenient on the sidebar. I can't believe that anyone thought this was a good idea! I know there is always resistance to change, and you do get use to things over time, but this is just out and out legit worse, no two ways about it.
Lots of people have multiple boards and this change makes using Trello harder, not easier.
Total shot in the foot in my view.

Getting rid of the sidebar seems like a big step back. The new functionality might be robust, but it's a lot of trouble when I just want to flip conveniently through a few boards I've organized on the side... Not sure what they're thinking here....

The update just hit me and it's beyond frustrating. I, too, frequently flip between different boards and really don't have a need for the Inbox or Planner that's not replaced the previous side bar functionality that streamlines my work. We should at least have the option restored.

I found an acceptable workaround! I have added my priority boards as bookmarks in the bookmark bar at the top of my browser. I find that a lot easier to work with on my go-to boards, and it's basically as good as the sidebar was. If anything, it's more customizable with sub-folders, etc. So I'm back in business! ;-)

Yeah, this is the solution to a problem that never needed to exist. I have so many needed bookmarks, it was nice to have one product where it was simple.

Really, really bad idea... Using Trello over 10 years, and this is one thing what I immediately felt missing... (Using it for about 30 min. now)
I have to jump between boards quite often and this decision makes one extra click EVERY time.
Plus you have to aim for the icon in the bottom, then move your mouse up to call the board and again.
It was so easy when they was always on the side and one above another.
It should be left as choice to see side bar or not, like it was before! Now it's simply gone...
Please Atlassian. make it come back...
Or maybe I can't find a setting for it?

Looks like they're on the way to fixing it, hooray!

I really hope they do, this "no sidebar" interface is really painful when you are used to going back and forth between boards 20 to 30 times a day. I have never understood project managers that remove features and think that it is an upgrade. If you get feedback that some people don't like something, just make it an on/off option rather than removing it. For the 2% vocal about wanting it changed, 50% love it how it is, and 48% don't care either way.

It's now end of June and still an issue, where is the fix to this? Terrible to not check with users before making such a change. UI changes are almost always for the worse and tone deaf by developers.

Just give us an option for a collapsable sidebar, it honestly isn't rocket science.

Can someone just tell me if its coming back, or if its not coming back? Happy to go find a new product but don't want to hang around for 3 months while they decide.

Who decided to remove the left-navigation side bar? What an atrocious decision...
Anyways, who knows an alternative to Trello that does have a left-navigation feature?

PLEASE BRING THE SIDEBAR BACK!!!!!!!

I just want to add my 2 cents to this discussion, hoping that Atlassian is checking this. This is terrible. extra clicks, extra time, extra brainpower for something that used to be so intuitive. Please give us the choice of adding the sidebar back. I can add an inbox that I don't want. I can add a planner that I don't use. But I can't add back my sidebar that I used constantly. Please add this functionality back into Trello!!!

So you want to tell it's a feature not a bug? :D

I believe that Atlassian has started rolling out this change, which has been in testing for a while, as of this month. If I'm not mistaken, it sounds like you have received the new update.
The sidebar has been replaced, and has been upgraded with a more powerful search tool. To access the boards, either click the "switch boards" button or, if you are using a keyboard, you can use the "b" key on your keyboard. This search will work across all workspaces, and you can filter by workspace.
Then, you can either navigate the list or you can just start typing and the board you want will appear! Either click on it or press the enter key and you will have switched boards.
Workspace settings and members are still accessible on the Trello homepage.
The other buttons towards the bottom control whether the Inbox, Planner, and Board are visible or not.
If I am mistaken and you do not see these buttons, please let me know. I have not gotten this update yet, and I only know about it because I opted into Beta testing, so it's possible I'm mistaken. These screenshots were taken in the Beta Testing version of Trello.

This change was terrible, the sidebar was actually useful, now it's useless. I alphabetized the sidebar, which made it simple to navigate, now its a three part process. That's insane if you think adding more steps to do the most simple of navigation between boards is an upgrade. I do not need to search for anything when it is conveniently already available to me without clicking multiple times or performing a search function.
This toolbar delete was a bonehead move. They must have heard feedback and ignored it completely, thinking we'd just move on and use their esoteric search function.

Totally agree! A whole post needed to describe all the ways in which you can now take longer to do something that was fundamentally simple before. I recognise you are just trying to help @DiMaggio Tucci and I appreciate the positivity, but at the end of the day, it was was easy before and now it is cumbersome. Trello just need to add the option for the old sidebar to be re-instated.
