Standard Board with Two Collaborators

Carrie Costa April 23, 2025

I have multiple boards in a workspace.

All I want is to upgrade a single board (or workspace if that's how the cost is calculated) to allow myself and one other collaborator to have full admin rights to a single board we want to work together on.

I see that for a standard user that's $6 a month, would it be $12 for both of us? How can I upgrade that without both of us having to individually pay $6 each?

How does this work?

Yes, if you're upgrading a workspace to the Standard plan, then you'd be charged per active user in that workspace. So if both you and your collaborator need full access and admin rights, it would indeed be $12/month total—$6 for each of you.

To avoid double-paying, you (as the workspace admin) can upgrade the workspace yourself and invite your collaborator—only your billing account will be charged for both users. Just make sure your collaborator is added as a member after the upgrade and assigned the appropriate permissions.

What if I've already invited a collaborator? Right now when I visit my options to upgrade it says it's $6 a month.

Do I need to remove the collaborator, upgrade, and then invite them back?

FWIW I will only ever have two active users across the entire workspace because I have multiple personal boards, and one shared board with another user.

I'm mainly trying to accomplish two things.

- get us both access to the same things in one board
- avoid my other board member having to set up their own paid subscription.

Hi @Carrie Costa ,

I hope you're doing well!  I wanted to clarify how billing works for our standard subscription:

  • Billing is at the workspace level: This means that all members and multi-board guests added to the workspace will be included in the billing.
  • Access to upgrade and billing: Only workspace admins have the ability to manage upgrades and billing details.Workspace admin is typically the person who initially created the Workspace or has been granted admin privileges by another admin. Admins have the ability to manage members, adjust settings, and handle billing-related tasks for the Workspace.

Thanks for sharing that information. I understand how the billing works overall I'm just confused because when I look to upgrade it tells me that the cost is $6 but there is more than one user on my workspace.

Will it adjusts after I upgrade?

Hi @Carrie Costa

When you click on "Upgrade," the cost is calculated based on the current number of workspace members and multi-board guests.

  • For example, if you're the only workspace member and have two single-board guests, the payment page will show the cost for just one workspace member(single board guests are free). If you add the same single-board guest to additional boards or make them a workspace member after upgrading, the cost will be prorated based on the number of days remaining in that billing period.

If you've already added the necessary workspace members and decide to upgrade, the cost will reflect the total number of existing workspace members.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, this is what I was after. Appreciate you taking the time to explain!
