Trello Home doesn't display all Due Dates

Since I can't set priority items to display in Trello Home, I use due date as a proxy. However, if my due date is sufficiently old Trello Home no longer shows it.

I have items that have not been completed but no longer show up in Home. Is this supposed to be how it works?

In addition, if anyone has thoughts how to prioritize w/o a Due Date that Home will recognize, that would be awesome!
