You are right, currently there is no connection between Planner and the 'Due Date' for the following reason:
- Due-Date represents when a task is due i.e. the deadline to complete it
- Whereas, the Planner represents a time block on your calendar to indicate when you plan to work on that task. For example, if a task is due next Friday that will take 4 hours to complete it, then you might block 1 hour each day Mon-Thu to complete it before the Friday deadline.
I hope this makes sense.
To make the connection between Planner and Due Date more apparent, two updates are being considered by the Trello product team:
- On each card, in addition to the due date, we will show the Planner time-blocks as well (to help you plan your work)
- For cards that are assigned to you and have a due date, we will show them on the Planner (as an all-day event) to quickly see the deadlines
