Hello community
I have two Trello accounts, with two different ways to sign in
- Work Atlassian account, using my employer's Microsoft account, including multifactor authentication. I use this to log in to all Atlassian services my employer uses.
- Personal Atlassian account, using separate Trello credentials
I have two workspaces. One hosting mostly work-related boards, other private stuff. All boards in both workspaces are visible to Workspace members (not private)
Both accounts are added to both Workspaces as admins so that I don't have to keep switching accounts when I work and do my own stuff in parallel.
My question: If I were to lose my Work Atlassian account, will I still be able to retain full access to both Workspaces and all content within them, with my Personal Atlassian account?
Hi @Kimmo Kyle
It sounds like your Work Account is a managed account - so access to Trello is dependent on you having access to that email address/domain.
If this was removed, you would no longer be able to login to that Atlassian account - and thus, you wouldn't be able to access/see that Workspace anymore.

How would I know for sure that my work account is “managed”?
Noting that when logged in with my private account, I would be able to remove my work account from the workspace. Both accounts are admins so the option is there.

Hi @Kimmo Kyle
It's probably easiest to ask your Admins. A few notes though...
To understand what a managed account is - see What are managed accounts?
However, I just noticed this line in your original question...
Both accounts are added to both Workspaces as admins so that I don't have to keep switching accounts when I work and do my own stuff in parallel.
^ If your personal account has access to both Workspaces, then you would retain access to both spaces if you were to no longer have your Work login. This is because the personal account has the right access permissions to be in both.

Thanks Stephen. I can ask in our organization, but it's a little tricky since we don't have admins as we don't use Trello with an enterprise subscription, only Jira and Confluence. This "Atlassian Access" was made available years ago, so we can use free Trello Workspaces with our work accounts with added security and convenience.
Not sure if it was really thought of that anyone with admins to a Trello workspace can invite another Trello user (like my personal account) and make them an admin too, so part of that security notion about access to information kind of goes away.
Is there any means of checking if the Workspaces themselves would be somehow "managed" and owned by the company? Guess not since they are Free and no advanced security features are available with Free plans.

Hi @Kimmo Kyle
I would recommend keeping business and personal Workspaces, and accounts, separate.
I feel there's significant security risk having the two mixed - as (for example) a user could retain access after leaving a business, which could have a range of legal, data security, etc, issues.

Yes, and Free Trello accounts aren't good for work purposes anyway.
I checked with our IT and acc to them it's like you described
"If your personal account has access to both Workspaces, then you would retain access to both spaces if you were to no longer have your Work login. This is because the personal account has the right access permissions to be in both."
Workspaces themselves aren't "managed" in any way with Free Trello.
