Unable to view the member/s assigned for a sub-task in the board view

Hey Community

I'm using Butler automation to create "Sub-tasks" out of checklist items as per this article

https://help.trello.com/article/1165-task-dependencies

As per the screen shot below I have added myself as a member to the sub task of 3 & 4.

I can see the items in "Your items" view (which is good)

However in the issue view I cannot see my avatar

The only way I can see it is if I go to the sub-task and manually add myself as a member to the card.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

Cheers!

Ash

@Ash Pitt you're assigning yourself to the checklist item, not to the card. They're separate things. The Butler sub-tasking article you're referring to was written before Advanced Checklists existed, but the assignment of a checklist item doesn't automatically carry through to the linked card.

This Trellinator code would do it:

@Iain Dooley

My test with 2 items with members assigned from my earlier business class test seems to convert ok to cards with the member assigned on them. Not sure if it is done by Butler.

Thanks @Iain Dooley

As this was for a demonstration I wasn't able to invest the time to get that going, however good to see that it's achievable!

Thanks for your answer :)

@Ash Pitt

The Butler is triggered at the point item is added. It does not respond when you assign a member

Hey @milynnus yep understood.

It's probably the way I'm phrasing the question. I posted the automation for some context - the thing I'm scratching my head about is:

In the task list view I cannot see my avatar or that I am assigned the task.

Even though I had assigned myself in the previous step

So really just wondering if I have set something up incorrectly there and it's related to the butler automation, or if it is by design.

@Ash Pitt

I do not have Business Class now to help you validate. I had a few remaining checklist items with member assigned from my business class testing. When I manually convert the item to card, the member is assigned to the card. I suspect this would be the same if you were to use Butler action to convert item to card.
