how to fix card on top :?

I'm using the control card which displays how many cards in total I have in my list.
however, it keeps walking with each new one I add.

Is there any way to set it to always be the first card?

There's no way to lock a card to the top of a list but you could use Butler (Trello's automation tool) to create a rule that every time a new card is added to that list, find the control card you're using and move it to the top of the list.
