It's definitely frustrating when you suddenly lose access to your Trello boards, especially after using it smoothly for a couple of months. While a payment requirement could certainly be the reason, it's not the only possibility as @Vronik rightly probing to better assist you.
Possible reasons for your issue, I see:
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
