When I opened the Trello app on my phone, I saw a message saying that the timeline feature will be discontinued for the mobile view starting in October.
Why remove features that work? Will there be alternative features?
We use the timeline to coordinate appointments within the team. The timeline is much clearer than the calendar view.
Wow, they really are pulling the "old Trello" apart at breakneck speed!
Trello is repositioning itself as an individual (AI assisted) productivity app. Therefore is moving away from Project Management and Team Collaboration (much to my horror).
I'm not surprised that Timeline is the first casualty of this pivot and personally don't think it is too much of a loss because it was always a half-baked feature. I suspect they are removing it from the mobile app to "allow for new features to be added". I wouldn't be surprised if Timeline (and dashboards) are removed from Trello entirely, which I wouldn't be too fussed tbh.
The Trello team have to tow the company line and tell you that you should use Jira if you want features like timeline view. But, I don't have to, so I'll tell you straight that Jira is still so far behind Trello's simplicity and flexibility for non-technical uses.
But, it may fit and is worth you taking a look. You will definitely still get timeline in the Jira app
Thank you for your comment. That doesn't sound very optimistic. I'll take a look at Jira, but every month I'm more and more disappointed by the “innovations” on Trello.
