Happy Friday, all! I had a thought this week during a Pilates class - movement is like magic to me. It helps me think through problems I'm having and plays a part in being my best self - mentally and physically.
For me, movement is a huge part of keeping my brain running on all cylinders. If I'm feeling stuck during the day, I might take a quick (or longer) walk or even just do a few squats...or even stand at my desk. I'm fortunate to work from home and have the flexibility to do this as needed, of course. I also build exercise into my schedule and aim to make it a daily occurrence.
Is movement like magic for you, too? How do you build it into your routine?
I'll also give a quick plug to a recent post from @Dave Liao - Why do you run?
Have an amazing weekend!
It's definitely a great help to me to get movement. I live in a great place to go out and walk most of the time. That will obviously change in winter so I will have to figure something out then!
Happy Friday! 😊
Two things really work for me when I need a boost - good food and movement. I also go to reformer pilates, which I love for both mind and body.
At the office, I have a walking pad paired with my electric desk, so I can walk while I work. It's amazing how it helps me focus longer - I sometimes even forget I’m walking! Plus, it's a super easy way to hit 10k steps by lunchtime. I also enjoy going to the gym regularly to keep things balanced.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts - have an amazing weekend too! 🙌
I definitely don't get out as much as I would like to and i think a lot of that stems from the fact that without the dogs around anymore I don't have an obligation to do so.
However, with the warmer weather and the kids out of school, my morning routine is a little less disruptive that I may get back into the habit of early morning walks for myself.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Absolutely agree, movement is essential! I personally love jogging, especially after a tough day, it clears my mind and helps me refocus. And when there's no time for a run, my daughter and I make sure to take our dog on a long walk; it’s a great way to reconnect, talk, and enjoy some fun together.
I do feel better when I'm out and accomplishing things that is not in front of a computer. The inertia can be tough to overcome.
I add movement into my day by parking far away from the places I go to. It can be difficult when it's really hot or raining, but every little bit helps. I also sometimes purposefully take a non-optimized route around a grocery store.
I try and get extra movement and exercise after the school run and pick up, but since mu daughter breaks up for the summer next week I'm going to be using the time I would normally be sitting in a car with her to extend my exercise periods.
