Friday Fun: Working for the weekend

Hey... we're all working for the weekend, right?  What do you like to do on the weekends?

My weekends - especially in the summer - revolve around the water... the lake, the ocean, maybe the pool.  A couple years ago, we finally broke down and bought a pontoon boat.  Now, our summer weekends look forward to days on the boat, whether just floating around, cruising the lake, fishing, or taking the grandkids out for a ride.

Music is also one of my passions.  I play bass in our worship band... so the weekends nearly always include a few hours of music.

What do you look forward to doing on the weekend?

Except, there are 58 hours in the weekend (I usually finish at 2PM on Fridays) so I try to carve out 4-6 of those hours for cycling. Winter indoors and summer outdoors, its where I get my exercise and the smile returns to my face, even after a grueling century ride!

Weekends are for family and usually a long run for me! It's also when I tend to get some crafting done (or started and never finished, lol). Unfortunately, it's also the time to squeeze in those weekend warrior projects and just the neverending task of weeding/yard work. I could really use a few more weekend days and a few less work days. 🙃

I kicked off my weekend early with a visit to one of my city's MANY festivals - Bastille Days. It includes a 5K run with a 9pm start time...definitely stayed up past my bedtime, but had a great run followed by some tasty beignets.

I typically go to breakfast and I love trying new breakfast restaurants. Then I sometimes go to record stores, do a craft or painting, build some Legos, watch a show, go to a movie, do a hike (in the winter only) and hang out with my family if there is a family event happening at someone's house. Those are my typical go-to's! I typically finish out Saturday with a nice meal. I reserve Sunday for grocery shopping and prepping for the next work week and getting some rest. Occasionally, I'll get away for the weekend to go on a staycation at one of the local resorts or go on a weekend trip somewhere I have never been as I love to explore new places!

Most weekends involve spending some time with our church family. Friday night Bible study, Saturday morning men's group and then worship on Sunday mornings. Sunday afternoons we usually have lunch in a nearby mall food court so we can spend time meeting new people don't know and having conversations with people from around the world. It's pretty fascinating.

Rooting for my town baseball team is one of my stress relievers.  I like the going to the lake parts too.

I usually wind down on the couch friday evening, so I have the energy to watch my two grandkids.  Olive will be 2 end of August and Brock will be 2 in December. We usually hit the splash pad in the park or the jungle gym in another park. Picture below is nap time!  Yaya loves nap time, Olive not so much.  And, yeah that is me exhausted, cheering on naptime!

I'm spending all my time with my two cote doggos + having coffee/drinks with friends and currently doing a lot of house decoration

In the weekend I like to go cycling on my road bike or my gravel bike. But I prefer to go out with my campervan.
