Do you use Zoom and Jira for stand-ups meetings?

Hi, I'm doing some research on how teams use Jira and Zoom video to hold their stand-up meetings. If your team does this, or you wish there was a better / easier way to do this, let me know and we can discuss more. Thanks!

Hi @Rich O'Connell

In the past I've been part of teams who have simple Facetimed in any missing people into the stand-up.

Or, we set up a phone conference line where people can dial into. Video is normally too difficult unless you have a fixed VC facility.

Using the phone is quite nice as you can use it as a baton. So the person who is giving their update at the stand-up can hold the phone and it gets passed around.

It'd be awesome to be able to have a 'live' board where people dialling into the stand up can see what issue is being discussed or highlighted.

Thanks

Yes we do, and I've seen it in other places.

As a consultant rather than a developer, the pattern of work is not well suited to doing Scrum properly, but daily standup is one thing that is really helpful.  We're often not co-located and settled on Zoom as the way to do stand-ups a long time ago.

We don't often work with Jira during a stand-up, but when we do, one of us (the one with the least to say about the topic usually) shares their screen and fires up Jira in a browser.

This is what I've observed on client sites using zoom during stand-up as well.  Sometimes it's the Scrum Master in charge of Jira, sometimes it's by turn, sometimes it's by who gets there first.  I'd say the Scrum Master is the most popular option, but not by a long way.

A small improvement would be to include the link to the board in the meeting details, a nicer one would be to have that clickable on-screen during the meeting (with a switch to sharing the invoked window), and a much bigger improvement would be a "shared board" tab inside the Zoom UI, no need to go rummaging for a browser and a link!
