Question About Upcoming Retirement of Data Center Certifications

Hi everyone,

I noticed that the "Jira Administration for Data Center" and "Managing Jira Projects for Data Center" certifications are scheduled to be retired on September 11, 2025. I’m currently considering taking one or both of them, but I’m unsure whether it still makes sense at this point.

Does anyone know:

• If it’s still worth pursuing these certifications before they retire?

• Whether Atlassian is planning to introduce updated or replacement certifications for Data Center?

• Or is this part of a broader move away from Data Center certifications altogether?

Any insights or official updates would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Atlassian is officially retiring both the “Jira Administration for Data Center” and “Managing Jira Projects for Data Center” certifications on September 11, 2025. Here’s what you need to know:

• You can still take these certifications before their retirement, and the price has dropped until then, but Atlassian is shifting its focus to Cloud certifications, and no updated Data Center certifications are planned.

• Existing holders will have their certification validity extended by two years, with no need for continuing education units to keep them active.

• This is part of a company-wide move away from Data Center certifications as Atlassian invests in Cloud and related credentials

so if I understand correctly, I can still take the certification before September 11, 2025, and it will then be valid for two years. However, after that period, there’s no way to renew or extend it, since there won’t be any successor certifications for Data Center.

That means I’d be investing time and effort into a certification that will essentially expire with no long-term path forward, especially as Atlassian shifts its focus fully to Cloud.

You are correct, the credential would be valid for two years and then expire.
