Amazing that it´s Halloween already! This year has really flown by. Last year, I asked about your favorite Halloween candy. If you didn't comment or want to update your comment there, feel free to do so :) This year, my wife bought a lot of glowsticks and we will be giving them out. Just to decrease the sugar a bit...
Happy Halloween - I love the glow sticks idea! My 9yo insists we give sweets - mostly so if there any left over she gets to keep them! Happy Spooky Thursday
Time really does fly! Halloween is such a fun time of year. Glowsticks are a good idea, but they might ask, "OK, these are cool, but where are our candies?" 🎃
We have parades for Halloween. The area schools have a parade, and then there's a big parade on the weekend. Our school band decided we wanted to be in the parade, but instead of marching, we'd all get on a flat bed trailer and ride in the parade. Pretty fun huh! But someone has to be on the end of the trailer, and you guessed it, that was me. When we were moving, it was less of a problem, but you needed one eye on the conductor, and one eye on the road to see if the truck was stopping, so you could brace yourself. I didn't feel like falling off of the back of the truck while playing my horn.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! 🎃👻 Glow sticks are definitely cooler than the pencils I received growing up... Although they did usually have those absurdly large erasers that were pretty fun! I have too many favorite Halloween memories, but one has to be when almost my whole family dressed up as Wizard of Oz and my dad was the wicked witch! :)
Glow sticks is such a cool idea! I'll try to remember that for next year; I doubt I'll have time today to run out and grab some...
But like @Abi Brown- Kolekti's kid, I made sure to get candies I like so I get to enjoy any leftovers. I would have slightly less fun with spare glowsticks. :D

I think my favorite Halloween memory is when I took my stepson and his cousin trick-or-treating when they were 3 years old. They thought it was quite wonderful and wanted to do it every day for about a week after that. 👻🎃
Living out in the country, it was hard to go trick or treating because the houses were so few and far between.
To remedy the situation, we usually went to a cousin's house that lived in the city, and then went out with them. That certainly increased the density of the pillow case when we got home.
Of course, the parent tax was enforced and some of the 'good stuff' disappeared.
BUT, not to worry, fast forward 20 years, and I was able to 'find' the 'good stuff' from enforcing the same tax on my children.
(Come on, they wouldn't miss a Reese's Peanut Butter cup or two!)
Anything Chocolate! But I am definitely remembering glow sticks for next year. We do Trunk or Treat, so kids would be excited for something different because they already have a ton of candy. At least I think so. Will see next year. :)
@Kristján Geir Mathiesen ~ as a kid, I might have preferred those glow sticks to candy! Don't get me wrong - I LOVE candy but the glow sticks idea is awesome!
Happy Halloween, everyone! Be safe if you're takin the littles out tonight! 👻🎃🦇
Happy Halloween Everyone! I have so many Halloween memories with my nieces and nephews when they were young and when I was a kid. This year I created a new memory. I typically don't have time to carve a pumpkin because I'm working, but a silver lining in being unemployed is I had time this year to go to a pumpkin patch, pick out a perfect pumpkin and carve it. Here is the final result! Oh and CANDY ALL THE WAY!
We live in a relatively small city and they block off downtown and the business provide trick or treating. It has been a really fun tradition to do with the kids.
Yes, Happy Halloween and Happy Samhain (Celtic holiday) to everyone!
I remember one year when my friends and I were old enough to go without our parents (that was the BEST!), we ran from door to door and collected about 3/4 of an orange pumpkin full of candy in a couple of hours. We traded candies we didn't like for those we did, it was a lot of fun. My other fun memory is when I was old enough to stay home and hand out candy, so fun to see the littlest kids in costumes!
Reese's pumpkins are my favorite! During our trick-or-treat last weekend, we gave out small packs of Pokemon cards and mini Haribo gummy bear packs. The Pokemon cards were a hit!
There are not many traditions regarding Halloween in the place where I currently live. However, it's usually time for costume parties. Although I'm not going out much, we organized a company Halloween Pub Quiz 🎃🍻 a few days ago, and it was a blast!
Have you ever tried trick or treating knowing a blizzard is coming? Enter the Halloween blizzard of 1991. The kids have to entirely rework your costume because it's going to be cold and snowy. What's the point to be dressed up to show off your cool costume, if it's all covered up by a snowmobile suit?
It started snowing during the day of Halloween. Before the night was over, we had 8 inches on the ground. 3 days later there was about 30 inches of snow. At least all the kiddies had their candy.

I remember the most special Halloween, one when my daughter was very little and decided to go out with her friends to ask for candy, the loot was spectacular and the candies that I like the most are all those with lemon.

Wow, I loved the idea of glow sticks, @Kristján Geir Mathiesen . How did it go? Was it received well?
Here we don’t celebrate Halloween like in other parts of the world. However, if you ask me, as a child, Halloween was one of the traditions I wanted to start here, and for obvious reasons! From the Halloween chocolate piles I have seen in images, my top choices would be a Kit Kat or a Twix.
