Throwback Thursday: a movie that you can quote a lot from? #TBT

It's Thursday!
giphy
A few weeks ago, I was in New York at an on-site work meeting for couple of days. It was great meeting workmates in live in 3D. We went to play mini golf one of the nights and got ice cream. Afterwards, one in the group said she wanted to walk back to the hotel (about 45 min walk) and we all decided to walk with her. During that walk, I got to know one of the guys better and found out that he can pretty much quote the whole of “Princess Bride”, the movie! Very impressive. And “Princess Bride” isn’t even he favorite movie, though it ranks up there.

Sooooo, what movie can you almost quote or quote a lot from?
Let’s make it a great Thursday!

Maybe for me it's not a film, but a TV show. When I was a kid and a teen, I loved watching "Friends". I don't even know how many times I watched each of the episodes, but I think even now, if I turn on any of the episodes, I can quote it :)

Terminator: "I'll be back"

or Mr. T in the A-Team: "I pity the fool" :)

I enjoy hearing about your team's adventure in New York!

As for quoting movies, I'm a big fan of 'The Lord of the Rings' sequence and can count some memorable lines from the films.

Too funny @Kristján Geir Mathiesen

Someone in my office could also quote Princess Bride word for word from beginning to end.

For me, as of late, I've been saying the "Doctor, Doctor, Doctor..." line from Spies Like Us in the hallways around the office to say "Hi" to my coworkers.

I'll save the other popular movie for my other post later today if I don't get my points for this post. :)

"By Grabthar's hammer.... what a savings."

(Galaxy Quest)

And.... Friends - I used to have the show on as a background 'noise' for years and used it to learn conversational English. As a result, I watched / heard every episode more than 100 times :D

Anything I watched with the kids when they were little!

Plus the original 3 Star Wars and the original 3 Lord of the Rings.

Now don't ask me to sing the Opera that Andy played throughout the prison and got in trouble for.  But who can forget "Get busy living, or get busy dying". or my personal favorite, "How can you be so obtuse" (as he upsets the warden again).

Then to get a chuckle out of the line "Maybe it's because I'm Irish!"

For a Stephen King novella turned into a move, Shawshank Redemption certainly ranks up there as one of my top movies.

Love all of these. In my house, it's mostly musicals that get quoted! Recent favorites are Beetlejuice and Waitress.

hahaha, definitely Princess Bride and Shawshank.  2 of my all-time favorites.  And then there's The Sandlot - "Yer killin' me, Smalls"!

At one point, I could quote you the entirety of any Monty Python movie, along with many sketches from the tv show. I don't know if it's old age or it's just been too long since I've watched them, but it has all faded a bit.

1986 Transformers the Movie Animated - Galvatron when he kills starscream This is bad comedy! or Hot Rod says, "how does that universal greeting go! Oh yeah nevermind I got it! Bah wep grah nah wep nini bon." Or the beginning of the movie when they are at a robot planet and Morvilous says "look its Unicron!"

Mine is a lot of Looney Toons cartoons. And then there Monty Python's Holy Grail, Blazing Saddles - that one can get you into trouble along with a few others.

I'm going to break this into three points in my life:

1) As a young child I watched "The Lion King" on repeat and I could practically quote the entire movie in addition to singing all the songs.

2) As a teenager, my sister and I stopped fighting and started bonding over our love for Adam Sandler & Chris Farley movies and our parents would have very confused looks on their faces when either of us would enter a room say a quote and the other would fall over laughing.  Specifically: Billy Maddison, Happy Gilmore, Tommy Boy & Black Sheep

3) My early career days - After I graduated, I quite quickly found a job work in customer support for a company that made code management and issue tracking software (no it wasn't Atlassian).  I happen to be working with a number of people around my age and everyone had watched both Office Space & Snatch many times over.  If we found someone who had never seen them, that was an excuse for us to watch them again as we quoted both movies regularly.

Hi

Wow
For me, this question is super complicated. I've seen many movies that I love many times.

Terminator

Lieutenant O'Neil

Air Force One

Rocky

Rambo

The Jungle

Cobra

the list could be very long ... ;o)

Regards

I am with @Jimmy Seddon on point 1: I was such a massive Lion King fan as a kid. Once, when I tried to put my little cousin to sleep, I spent an hour and a half basically quoting the whole movie (I skipped singing the songs, though)

The Matrix, and The Fountain are probably staples to my life, not just movies, so I am probably capable of putting someone to sleep with them too :D

I can quote pretty much all of Arnold Schwarzenegger's one-liners (theold ones anyway).

Some of the great one-liner moies and their quotes:

Runnin man: "Hey, light bulb! Hey, Christmas tree!" (there are alot more, but this was one that doesn't need too much context)

Predator: "Come on! Kill me! Com on, do it now!"

Terminator: "I'll be back."

Commando: "Don't disturb him, he's dead tired."
